When Shah Rukh Khan replaced Salman Khan in Chak Day India- what exactly happened?

Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chak de India is considered one of the best films in his entire career. The film not only influenced the audience, but also emerged as a big money spinner at the box office despite the low opening.

However, many people do not know that Shah Rukh Khan was not the first choice to play the lead role of hockey coach Kabir Khan in Chak Day India, but it was introduced to Salman Khan. So, let us find out why the game can not be with Salman Khan.

Some media reports claimed that Salman Khan had asked for a huge remuneration for Chak Day India. Because of that, Aditya Chopra did not work with him until Ek Thai Tiger (2012), where Megastar signed his terms.

When Salman Khan explained the reason behind rejecting Chak Day India

During Sultan campaign in 2016, when Salman Khan was asked why he turned down Chak Day, the actor jokingly said, “I left it because even Shah Rukh Khan should be a part of some great films.” In addition, the actor mentioned that at that time, his image was not suitable for playing sports coaches like Kabir Khan. He said that he left the film due to the brave expectations made between fans.

“When I was offered Chak Day, my image was completely different because I was doing partner and all those types of films. My only thing in Chak Day was that my fans were to wear a wig and win the match for India, which will not go for the film. It was not my style at that time,” Salman expressed.

The actor highlighted that Chak de India was tilted towards serious cinema and had fewer business aspects. He said, “It was a more serious film and I was doing more than a commercial type of cinema that I am still doing. I will never go out of commercial cinema sector, but it’s just that there will be many meaningful cinema in the commercial sector.”

For Anward, Chak de India was directed by Shimit Amin. Released in 2007, behind the film Om Shanti Om, only emerged as the second supreme groser of the year.
