Blink Twice is out in theaters and Zoe Kravitz is receiving praise from audiences and critics for her directorial debut. However, it wasn’t a smooth road for Kravitz, as on the first day of shooting she needed encouragement from Channing Tatum to keep the film going.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the filmmaker revealed that she was very scared the day filming began. She also revealed that there was a huge crowd on the first day, and all the actors gathered near the pool, creating a big group scene.
Talking about her experience as a director on set, Kravitz shared, “It was really overwhelming because any scene with more than two people is chaos.” She further added, “It was the whole cast by the pool, which, looking back, I think I might not have planned it that way because I was definitely overwhelmed. We had a really long water shot, and that was a big way to start.”
It was difficult for Kravitz to adjust to the filmmaking process, and so, the 24-year-old Kravitz said, “We’re shooting in Mexico in the summer; it’s very hot, the actors are very hot, and the sun is very strong.”
She added, “I remember going back into the room at the end of the day and thinking what the hell I had gotten myself into. And Chan gave me a nice, encouraging talk, which was incredibly helpful.”

As a solution to her busy days, the Divergent actress explained that, looking back, she could have taken smaller parts to shoot that wouldn’t have burdened her as much.
Once the actress got a grip on her skills, she claimed, “And then you just get into it, and after that you don’t even look back. You get completely immersed in it and you’re completely focused. But the first day was scary.”
Blink Twice, starring Channing Tatum, is based on the story of Slater King, who invites his friends to his private island. However, things get suspicious when dark secrets are revealed.
The film’s synopsis reads, “When tech billionaire Slater King meets cocktail waitress Frida at his fundraiser, he invites her to join him and his friends for a luxurious vacation on his private island.” It further reads, “Wild nights soon turn into sun-drenched days, but when strange things start happening, Frida must discover the truth if she wants to survive.”
