Zerodha, India’s second-largest stockbroking firm, faced a technical glitch on Friday morning with traders complaining that the screen froze while placing orders.

“Hi, we apologize for the inconvenience. The issue was resolved quickly, and the prices are now updating properly, please check,” Zerodha said on social media platform X, responding to user complaints.

In the morning, several Zerodha traders lashed out at the Bengaluru-based broking firm that the Kite app had frozen and as a result they were not able to classify open positions.

Over the past few months, traders, especially those trading options, have been hit by technical glitches reported by discount broking platforms like Groww and Zerodha.

In 2023 alone, Zerodha acknowledged at least 8 technical glitches on the Kite app with issues related to login, display of orders and positions as well as order placement.

With a market share of 17.5%, Zerodha is the second largest broker in India while discount broker Groww has become the largest player in terms of active clients.
