Zeenat Aman was drunk during the song of Dev Anand’s film Dum Maaro Dum, my mother was very angry
Zeenat Aman told that during the shooting of ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ in Kathmandu, she smoked chillum which made her intoxicated. Her mother was furious at the crew members for allowing this to happen.

Veteran Bollywood actress Zeenat Aman recently spoke about smoking a real chillum while shooting for the song “Dum Maaro Dum” from the 1971 film Hare Rama Hare Krishna. She played a drug addict in the film, which was directed by actor Dev Anand.
In her latest Instagram post, the 72-year-old actress recalled the day she shot for the song “Dum Maaro Dum”, which catapulted her to stardom. Revealing that the team shot the song in Kathmandu, Zeenat revealed how Dev Anand “gathered a bunch of hippies from the streets to be a part of the song.”
Zeenat said, “The hippie artists were very happy with their good fortune. Not only were they getting a chance to pack hashish in their chillum in beautiful Nepal, they were also getting free food, they were getting a chance to work in a Bollywood film and they were getting paid for it.”
Referring to Dev Anand’s eye for perfection and authenticity, she added, “My character, the drunk Janice, had to look really drunk. And the easiest way to achieve that was to attend hippie prasads! So I was still in my teens, and constantly taking long puffs from his chillum for the takes.”

When she finished shooting the song sequence, Zeenat revealed, “I was drunk! I was in no condition to return to the hotel in that happy, dizzy and slightly stupid haze.” So, members of her team took her “to a beautiful place”, and eventually, the actor “calmly came down from her hangover.”
However, she later revealed that her mother was “angry” at the senior crew members of ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’ because they allowed her teenage daughter to “take drugs”.
Zeenat Aman wrote, “I later learnt that when my mother found out what had happened she was extremely angry and severely reprimanded the senior crew members for allowing her beloved child to take ‘drugs’! Fortunately, I was spared her fury.” She concluded, “Well, what can I say? It was the 70s, and I was a flower child of sorts.”
The actress revealed that she will be performing her popular songs in live musical shows to be held in Delhi, Mumbai and Jaipur. She requested her fans to book tickets for the shows not only for themselves but also for their parents.
