Zaheer Iqbal told how he talked to Shatrughan Sinha about marrying Sonakshi Sinha
Zaheer Iqbal spoke about his experience of getting Shatrughan Sinha’s approval to marry Sonakshi Sinha. The two got married on June 23.
Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal recalled when they first approached Zaheer’s father Shatrughan Sinha to discuss their wedding plans. Sonakshi and Zaheer got married on June 23 in the presence of their family and close friends at their new home in Mumbai.
Zaheer Iqbal revealed how he approached veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha to ask for Sonakshi Sinha’s hand in marriage.
Talking about this, Zaheer told The Times of India“I went to his house and I was nervous, because until that moment I had never spoken to him face-to-face. The moment we started talking, we started discussing a million things and we became like friends. Of course, I also told him that I want to ask him to marry me. I know he has a reputation of being a timid guy, but he is very genuine, cool and he is the sweetest person I have met in a long time.”
On this, Sonakshi said, “When I told my father about us, I was also very nervous. I didn’t know how he would react. I was trying to play it really cool. I asked him, “Aren’t you worried about my marriage because you haven’t asked me anything about it?” He said, “I have told your mother to ask her daughter”. Then, I told him that there is a guy named Zaheer in my life, and he said, ‘Yes, I read it too (I have read about it).”
He added, “He said, ‘You guys are big, If husband and wife are happy then what can the Qazi do? (a saying that means ‘if the husband and wife are willing, what can the judge do?’). I was thinking, ‘Oh, that was easy!’ I realised how calm and composed my father is. He was really supportive of our relationship.”
Before their wedding, there were rumours of Sonakshi’s parents being unhappy with the marriage. But their wedding pictures tell a different story. Talking about this, Sonakshi said, “Both mom and dad were very emotional. Dad just looks strong about it, but deep inside he is a very soft-hearted person. He was standing right next to me, and I knew he was feeling very emotional, so I held him and told him, don’t worry, I am not going anywhere. My mom broke down during the wedding when she realised that I was actually going to leave the house. Now, we visit her quite often, in fact, I talk to my mom a lot now, at least twice a day.”
Sonakshi and Zaheer get married in June 2024 after dating for 7 years.
