The Gipping Crime Drama Black Warrant, in which Zahan Kapoor was headed, started her Netflix on January 10, 2025 and won the audience. Recently, the actor of the iconic Shashi Kapoor opened about his childhood, revealing that he was somewhat distanced away from his famous cousin, Kareena and Ranbir Kapoor, accepting the feeling of separation within the family.
In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Zahan Kapoor was asked about their bond with cousins Kareena and Ranbir Kapoor. He admitted that his relationship has strengthened in recent years. He said, “During growing up, we were a bit far away.” He explained that when he was already immersed in the industry, he was still a child, growing in a different environment.
The actor also shared that his grandfather, Shashi Kapoor intentionally maintained a sense of secrecy, retained a price by his nuclear family. Although family meetings took place on special occasions or sometimes randomly, their interactions were limited.
Zahan further shared that his bond with Kareena Kapoor and Ranbir has strengthened in adulthood, but remains a natural isolation as he is his second cousin. He said, “There is a separation.” He told that he shares very close connections, being the first cousin. Despite this, he recalls childhood memories with him, although he admitted that the sheer shape of the Kapoor family naturally makes some distance.
He also recalled childhood memory, admitting that he had no idea about his cousin Ranbir Kapoor until he had a Bollywood debut. Although he was familiar with Rishi Kapoor, his family remained quite different, and as a young child, he was absorbed in his world. It was only when Ranbir started his big screen with Savariya in 2007 that Zahan came to know about him, as he was still in school at that time.
Zahan Kapoor reflected on an old family photo from a cousin’s gathering, possibly from the defense, where he was seen as a small child sitting on Ranbir Kapoor’s lap. The picture shared with her by cousin Pooja reminded her how far she was. He reminded of having more memories with Shammi Kapoor’s grandson, as he lived closer.
However, over time, his bond with Kareena and Ranbir has become stronger. He now feels more easily to discuss work with them. Turning back, he remembered that he was so fascinated by Rockstar that he had seen it twice a day, but at that time, his relationship was not enough for him to call Ranbir and talk about it. Now, things have changed, and he finds special to be able to share his work with them.
Meanwhile, Black Warrant is an entertaining series inspired by true events, led by Shornurs Vikramaditya Motavane and Satyanashu Singh. Zahan Kapoor, Rahul Bhat, Paramveer Singh Cheema, Anurag Thakur, and Sidhant Gupta, in the lead roles, the show also includes special demonstrations of Rajshari Deshpande, Tota Roy Chaudhary and Rajendra Gupta. Crime drama is currently streaming on Netflix.
