Earlier, several reports suggested that Siddhant Chaturvedi has rejected Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra, but the Yudhra actor has a different story to tell. Recently, while speaking to Humans of Bombay, Siddhant clarified that it was his father’s decision to not sign Karan Johar’s film, which was in the early stages of the ideation at that time and the elder felt his son would be overshadowed by biggies like Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
Speaking to Humans of Bombay, Siddhanth made it clear that he has not ‘quit’ Brahmastra, while adding, “It was in the very early stages at that time, I was a nobody, a struggling guy, so who am I to say no to Ayan Mukerji, Dharma and Brahmastra?” Chaturvedi elaborated that while the project was still in writing, other actors were already working on it and he was excited about it too.
Siddhanth recalled, “I could have done that too, but my father wouldn’t let me. ‘You’re better than that,’ he would say, even today he inspires me.” He added that he was very happy with the fact that he had a three-film contract with Dharma. Till then, the actor had only done a handful of commercials and according to him he was a ‘nobody’.

Siddhanth said, “I told my father that the film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan and he asked me, ‘Toh tujhe kaun dekhega?'” He further added that his father made him think about it as the script hadn’t come yet. “No son, I don’t think you should do it. Do you have the script, have you auditioned for it? If you don’t even know what you are going to do in that film, don’t sell your luck,” the actor recalled his father saying.
Siddhanth recalled that it was a similar situation when Gully Boy was offered to him, with two established actors – Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt – in the cast. But this time his two crucial scenes in the script – the entry and the loss – convinced his father.
Siddhant’s next film ‘Yudhra’ also stars Malavika Mohanan and will hit theatres on September 20.
