YouTuber Jack Doherty crashed his $200,000 McLaren sports car after looking at his phone while driving in the rain during a livestream this weekend. Mr Doherty, 20, who has almost 15 million subscribers, is known for his controversial prank videos and displays of wealth. He was streaming the incident on Kik, where his channel was later banned following the accident.
A clip circulating online shows Mr Doherty driving fast on a wet highway and glancing at his phone before shouting, “No, no, no!” As soon as she lost control of the car and collided with the guardrail.
Mr Doherty also shared subsequent videos, one of which shows him calling for help from inside the vehicle. In the clip, she asked a bystander to hold the camera as others pulled her out the window.

Viewers criticized Mr Doherty for showing more concern for his damaged McLaren than for his injured cameraman, who sat in the passenger seat holding his arm and bleeding from the head.
One user wrote, “Your friend’s face is bleeding but you make sure to film it from all angles… lol.”
Another user wrote, “I don’t know who this idiot is, but if you are complaining about your car just to get likes on the video while someone sitting in the car is hurt and bleeding then that’s it.” You are a worthless person.”
“You were looking at your phone while driving, reading your chats. Honestly, you weren’t worried about your friend at all. You just kept crying about the car and when your friend asked where his blood Is flowing from, then you ignored him again and again. A third user wrote, “Forced him to keep making your video.”

Mr Doherty later posted a video from a hospital room, where his cameraman was getting stitches. Some said he did not re-upload the full footage showing his actions before the accident.
A separate clip shows Mr Doherty wailing over his damaged car and handing the camera to his injured cameraman, telling him to continue filming.
This is not Mr Doherty’s first on-camera mishap. In March, he overturned his new Can-Am off-road vehicle shortly after getting it, and in November, he crashed a golf cart with his girlfriend by flipping it on its side, nbc Informed.
Mr Doherty bought the now-completed McLaren for more than $200,000 last year, just weeks after buying Lamborghini and Tesla. In a video posted at the time, he joked that he would “crash this car, mark my words.”
