“He talked about Ramayana. They were working on it for many years and they said I have this vision, this is what is happening and I am not able to put it together with the cast and all of them,” Yash revealed and added that After a conversation, they both realized that they had a common goal of putting such a film on an “international platform”.

Yash recalled that Namit “hesitantly” asked if he would be interested in playing Raavan, to which the actor replied, “If the character is treated like a character, if it doesn’t happen today, then To make a film with that kind of budget, you need that kind of actors to come together and work on the project and your vision. Have to put it first.”

Yash shared that he was then told that he He had been working on it for a few years and met director Nitish Tiwari for more discussions on how to take the project forward.

When Yash was asked about casting Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi as Lord Ram and Sita, Yash told that when he joined the project, Ranbir was already attached to it. “Sai Pallavi, we took a collaborative decision. I believe that everyone from South and North should be involved in this film, Nitesh ji always wanted Sai Pallavi. I also said it’s a great option,” he said.

Yash is the first lead actor to officially announce his role in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan.

“This is a very fascinating character. I wouldn’t have done it for any other reason. In Ramayan, if you had asked me ‘Will you play any other character?’ Probably not. For me, Raavan is the most exciting character to play as an actor, so I really like the shades and nuances of the particular character. There is wide scope to present it very differently. As an actor I am very excited. Hopefully, it will be a very unique approach to it,” he said.

Earlier, sources told India Today Digital that the news is reportedly not true and Yash will not be playing a negative role at this stage of his career. Before Yash, Hrithik Roshan was approached for the role of Raavan.
