Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi are ready to act in a film inspired by Shah Bano. It falls on the 40th anniversary of the historic decision of Shah Bano vs Ahmed Khan case (Supreme Court 1985).
This decision is seen as a fight for Muslim women for rights in India and a fight against the set Muslim personal law.
The film is a high-octane drama set against the backdrop of a case that changed the constitutional history of India. Emraan is playing the role of Yami, a character inspired by Ahmed Khan, husband of Hashmi Shah Bano.
The story of a classic David vs. Goliyat, it looked at a flexible Shah, which had no financial resources and supports the society on the establishment of organized religion and fights the wrong practices done under the guise of organized religion.
The case made global headlines and also listed as one of the top 10 events shaping Indian democracy and judiciary.
This story also gave rise to origin that now a nation is moving towards a law under the proposed uniform Civil Code.
The film is expected to be released in October-November 2025. It has been shot at many places in Lucknow and Uttar Pradesh.
It is starred by Supern S. Verma, who is the creator of ‘Sirf Ek Banda Khila Hai’, starring Manoj Bajpayee.
Meanwhile, Yami is riding a high ride on the success of ‘Article 370’, while Imran is waiting for the release of his next film ‘Ground Zero’.
