Android 16 is coming faster than normal and has already reached the platform stability milestone with beta 3. Xiaomi is riding in the train quickly with the release of its Android 16 developer preview program for two phones.
Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 14T Pro are selected test topics. East launched with Android 15, while the latter originally ran Android 14, so this is its second major update. They represent two major platforms – Qualcomm (Snapdragon 8 Elite) and MediaTek (Demensity 9300+) respectively.
If the name did not remove it, this release is for developers who want to test their apps on Android 16 and try new APIs and features.
If you want to try beta, you have to update the phone first. Xiaomi 15 should be run OS2.0.109.0.vocmixm or later, while 14T Pro OS2.0.103.0.Vnnmixm or later.
There are two ways to update. Using a local update feature – you can download roms from Xiaomi’s Android beta page, then go to settings and choose ROM to install. If you want to downgrade back into the current OS version, you can also download Rome for Android 15/Hyperos 2.
The other update method goes through the fastboot and it requires that you have an unlock bootloader, so the local update method is better. Keep in mind that it will erase your data, so return it first.
ROM is an Android beta feedback app, so if you stumble on any issue with software, you can send a report to Xiaomi.
Last year, Google began to seed Pixel phone to Android 15 in mid -October. Xiaomi announced Hyperos 2 in late October and released an update for Xiaomi 14 a few days later. Google is expected to release the stable version of Android 16 in May.
