October is shaping up to be a major launch month for Chinese manufacturers. Amidst the release of the Oppo Find X8 series and the upcoming OnePlus 13, the focus is also on Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship, the Xiaomi 15. This year, the new Xiaomi flagship series will include Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro which will launch in China on October 29. Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to launch early next year. As Xiaomi’s next-generation flagships, the Xiaomi 15 lineup is expected to offer notable upgrades in display, cameras, and processing power compared to last year’s Xiaomi 14 series.
Let’s take a closer look at the expected specifications and possible India release of the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro.
Xiaomi 15 expected specifications
Recent images shared by Xiaomi officials confirm that the Xiaomi 15 will have a sleek design with a flat AMOLED display, narrow bezels, and a square camera module. The device is rumored to have a 6.36-inch flat AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, which will likely include LTPO technology for optimized power consumption.
The Xiaomi 15 will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, built on a 3nm process for increased efficiency and processing power. This chipset is expected to deliver better gaming and graphics performance thanks to its updated Adreno GPU. The base model may start with 12GB RAM.
Camera performance is another highlight, as Xiaomi continues its collaboration with Leica for photography. The Xiaomi 15 is rumored to have a 50-megapixel OV50H main camera, a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with 3.2x optical zoom, and an ultra-wide sensor for versatile photography. There is expected to be a 32-megapixel camera on the front.
Under the hood the Xiaomi 15 may house a robust 5,500mAh battery with support for 90W wired and 50W wireless charging.
Xiaomi 15 Pro expected specifications
The Xiaomi 15 Pro will differentiate itself from the base model with a larger, more advanced display. It is expected to feature a 6.78-inch quad-curved 2K AMOLED display that supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and DCI-P3 wide color gamut, with a peak brightness of 3,200 nits.
Like the standard model, the Xiaomi 15 Pro will also be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, but may offer up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
Significant camera enhancements are expected for the Pro model. Equipped with a Leica-tuned 50-megapixel Light Fusion primary camera, the Xiaomi 15 Pro can deliver exceptional low-light performance and detail-focused photography. Along with a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, there is also rumored to be a 5x periscope telephoto lens capable of 10x lossless zoom.
The Xiaomi 15 Pro is speculated to have a large 6,100mAh battery, which should support fast charging and potentially longer usage times. Xiaomi’s new HyperOS 2.0, based on Android 15, is set to launch with the Xiaomi 15 series.
Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro launch timeline and expected price in India
While the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro will first launch in China this month, the Xiaomi 15 series could debut in the Indian market as early as 2025, possibly around March if Xiaomi follows its previous release cycle. However, only the standard Xiaomi 15 is expected to be available in India, as the Pro and Ultra models are often exclusive to select markets.
Regarding the price, the Xiaomi 15 series is rumored to be more expensive than the Xiaomi 14 series. Considering that the Xiaomi 14 price in India starts at Rs 69,999, the Xiaomi 15 could be priced between Rs 75,000 and Rs 80,000.
