The global platform X, formerly known as Twitter, suffered another outage in a span of three days on Friday. As a result, thousands of users around the world are unable to use the social media platform at this time.

More than 62,000 users in the United States reported problems with the social media platform, and more than 11,000 users in the United Kingdom faced problems, news agency Reuters reported. In India, around 3,000 users faced issues while using the platform. However, the reason behind the outage is yet unknown.

According to a report by The Independent, users’ problems started appearing around 8.30 pm (Indian Standard Time). Many of those who tried to log in to the platform at that time faced difficulties as they were faced with a blank screen instead of their regular feed. The news spread like wildfire and many people on various social media platforms talked about the sudden stoppage of services.

As it seemed, the blackout affected all types of users, from people trying to log in from their desktop to people trying to access the platform from their mobile phones. The service disruption also seemed to be more severe than other disruptions, as people failed to see any posts due to blank home screens.

On Tuesday, the platform saw a major disruption, where as of 9.19am ET, more than 22,900 users had reported issues with the platform. DownDetector recorded more than 7,000 outage reports from users in the United Kingdom as of 9.20 a.m. ET, as well as more than 2,700 reports from Canada.

DownDetector compiles outage data based on user-submitted reports, which means the actual number of affected users may vary.

X did not immediately respond to a request for comment from news agency Reuters.
