History:

The idea of ​​celebrating World Bicycle Day was first proposed by Polish-American social scientist Professor Leszek Sibylski working in the United States. He started a grassroots campaign to get the United Nations onboard to celebrate World Bicycle Day every year. It eventually received the support of Turkmenistan and 56 other countries. In April 2018, the United Nations General Assembly announced that World Bicycle Day would be celebrated on June 3 every year.
