In short
- Apple software gets a major redesign
- Ridigine is based on liquid glass theme
- Redigation is rolling in all Apple software
In a major redesign, Apple is updating the design language used for software in all its devices, including iPhone and MAC. In WWDC 2025, the company showed its new design that has translucent elements such as the entire software is designed with glass. Apple calls the new design language liquid glass and says that it wants to provide a consistent experience in the devices by bringing it to all its equipment at the same time.
Liquid glass design will be rolled out in all Apple software including iOS, iPados, Macos and Watchos. “This year is another piece of our platform story, and this is a big,” said at Apple’s Craig Federighi, WWDC 2025.
According to Apple, the final redesign was accompanied by iOS 7, when the company was “inspired by the recent emergence of the retina display and the amazing power of the A6 silicon.” Therefore, it has been some time and now the company feels that it is time to bring some fresh into its software.
The new design, which uses translucent elements, and has an appropriate amount of “glass”, is clearly inspired by the company’s visosa that was first introduced with the Apple Vision Pro Virtual Reality Headset.
“Today, we are excited to announce our broad design updates,” Alan Die said, vice -president of Apple’s design. “The new design begins with a completely new, expressive material that we call liquid glass. With glass optical properties and a liquidity that can only get apples, it changes depending on your content or even your reference and brings more clarity to navigation and control.”
The company says that “liquid glass is transcendent and behaves like glass in the real world.”
As mentioned earlier, the new design is coming up with iOS 26 – yes, Apple is changing other major software updates along with the name of its software versions, which the company will release in the coming weeks to all its equipment. It is not yet clear what kind of hardware requirements will be required in the new design and all equipment will be supported. It is also not clear whether all “glass” effects will be available on all supported equipment or the most sophisticated flourish of these design will only be limited to the latest iPhone and Macbook.
Whether it is clear that within weeks your iPhone experience, or the form and experience of your MacBook, Watch and iPad for that case, are all going to change.
