Directed by Jon M. Chu, Wicked has been in theaters for two weeks. The recently released musical fantasy film hits the screens on November 22, 2024. Internationally, Ariana & Cynthia’s musical fantasy film earned US$96.8 million in 61 markets, with many major films still missing the mark. Directed by Jon M. Chu, Wicked is expected to gross over US$700 million globally. This will depend on how the musical fantasy performs in key markets like China, Japan, France, Germany etc.

Everything You Need to Know About Wicked
Wicked is an American adaptation of the stage musical of the same name. Schwerdt and Holzman’s musical was based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. The first part of a two-part Wicked series explores the first half of the musical act.
Backed by Universal Pictures, Wicked stars Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba. It tells the story of Elphaba, a young woman born with green skin who sets out on a journey to become the Wicked Witch of the West. Elphaba also furthers her friendship with her classmate, Galinda, a beautiful young woman, who transforms into Glinda, the Good. Actor Jonathan Bailey has been cast as Prince Fierro Tigelaar.
Wicked Part Two is scheduled to release on screens on November 21, 2025.
