Actor Aamir Khan recently opened his son Junaid’s struggle with dyslexia. He revealed that his popular film, ‘Taare Zameen Paar’ (2007) had an emotional relationship with him due to the theme. Aamir also admitted that he initially scolded Junaid when he had problems in understanding the alphabet.
The ‘Sitare Zameen Paar’ actor admitted that he did not talk about it to respect his son’s confidentiality earlier. However, now that Junaid has told himself in an interview, he can discuss his son’s position.
During the fan-meeting of a ‘Tare Zameen Paar’, Aamir said, “I have never talked about it till date. It is probably the first time I am saying this. And the reason is that many years have passed. And the second thing is that the person I am going to talk about has already talked about it.
“It has been 17–18 years since the film was released, and I have never said this till now: Junaid is dyslexic. So when I first heard the story (Taare land), it hit me with so hard – because I have been through myself. I was initially like Nandkishore Awasti (Tare Zamin’s father).
Aamir will be seen next time in ‘Sitare Zameen Paar’, which is a spiritual sequel to ‘Taare Zameen Paar’. The film is directed by RS Prasanna and is produced by the actor’s house banner Aamir Khan Productions.
Apart from Khan, the film also includes Jenalia Deshmukh in an important role. ‘Sitare Zameen Paar’ introduced 10 new debutant actors – Araush Dutta, Gopi Krishna Verma, Samvit Desai, Vedanta Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mishra.
‘Zitare Zameen Paar’ is a remake of the Spanish film ‘Champions’ (2018). Aamir plays the role of a basketball coach for a team of children particularly competent in Sports Drama.
The film will be released in theaters on June 20, 2025.
