Looks like Whoopi Goldberg is looking for other people. The actress and host of The View shared some words of advice with Nikki Glaser, who is set to host the upcoming Golden Globes awards.
Goldberg, who herself has reportedly hosted the Academy Awards four times and the Grammy Awards once, offered advice to Glaser on Wednesday’s episode of The View.
The Sister Act star added, “You’re the leader, and you’re going to take all the hits. And no matter what you do, there’s going to be a whole bunch that’s going to complain.”
The View host further told Glaser not to look on social media and urged her to do her job and “kick everyone’s ass.” Ghost Star’s other co-hosts also agreed with the advice he gave, and asked him to turn off Google Alerts with his name on them so he wouldn’t be notified of any feedback or reviews regarding the evening after he hosted. After hearing the advice, Glaser put his hand on his heart and thanked them for it. Sunny Hostin, co-host of The View, told her that she got “tips from the best people” and Glaser responded, “I know, it’s amazing.”
During a conversation earlier in the show, Glaser expressed surprise that some celebrities choose not to host awards ceremonies like the Golden Globes.
The Color Purple star shared that many people do this because it is scary. He said that one should be able to know that there is time for jokes, monologues and other things too. He said that one has to know when “stuff” is happening so that one can rise above it.
She continued, “You see it, but no one else sees it, and so when you come back, you’re talking about it. You are the thing that helps everyone move forward.”
The Golden Globes are scheduled to air on January 5, 2025, on CBS.
