Kannada film producer Guruprasad reportedly died by suicide. He was 52 years old. According to a report by Asianet News, the director’s body was found in a decomposed state in his apartment in Karnataka. While the nation mourns his untimely demise, let’s know everything about him.
Who was Guruprasad?
Guruprasad was a popular Kannada film director who hailed from Kanakapura town in Karnataka. He was born on 2 November 1972 in Ramnagar district.
Guruprasad made his directorial debut in 2006 with the film Mata. The film featured Jaggesh in the lead role along with the director himself. Other actors including Mandya Ramesh, Vijaynath Biradar and Tabla Nani were also part of the project. After the huge success of Mata, the filmmaker started getting many good opportunities in the industry.
Guruprasad’s next big project was Adelu Manjunath starring actor Jaggesh and himself. The comedy-drama film was released in 2009 and received positive response from the audience. Yagya Shetty played the lead role in the film.
For Adelu Manjunath, Guruprasad received the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Screenplay in 2009.
Guruprasad was fond of directing films as well as acting. Apart from Mata and Adelu Manjunath, she acted in films like Hudugaru, Kal Manja, Mayilari, Jigarthanda, Kushka and others.
Meanwhile, his last film as a director was Ranganayaka starring none other than Jaggesh.
Guruprasad died by alleged suicide
Guruprasad’s neighbors alerted the police after they noticed a foul smell coming from his apartment in Karnataka’s Madanaiyakanahalli area, Asianet News reported. Subsequently, officials reached his house and found his mutilated body hanging from the ceiling fan.
According to preliminary investigation, police suspect that he died a few days ago. He also denied that Guruprasad would have committed suicide due to financial difficulties and huge debts.
Furthermore, Guruprasad’s last film Ranganayaka with Jaggesh also failed, pushing him into financial trouble. The case is still under investigation by the Madanaiyakanahalli police.
