Dolly Parton’s brother David Parton died on November 15 at his home in White Pine, Tennessee. The 82-year-old was one of 12 siblings, including Dolly, Stella, Willdeen, Coy, Robert Jr., Cassie, Frieda and Rachel. Parton was preceded in death by three siblings, namely Randy, Larry, and Floyd.
Stella Parton announced her brother’s passing on X (formerly Twitter). “My brother David passed away peacefully this morning. It’s never easy saying goodbye to a loved one, but he got angel wings and is now at peace,” she wrote. She expressed her grief on Facebook, telling netizens that David died during the “morning”, writing, “RIP dear soul. Love you forever.”
Although the country singer has not yet released a statement, her family has posted an obituary for the 82-year-old, revealing that the family’s second-oldest was “as a bridge builder superintendent at Simpson Construction ” It says he worked on several bridges in the “Kingsport, Johnson City and Knoxville areas” during his career.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kay, his “son/nephew,” Lucas, “daughters, Donna Parton, and Dena (Tommy) Lane; grandsons, Jordan Bell, Jared Bell, Brody Lane,” according to Farrer Funeral Home. Randy Lane, and Taylor Lane; brothers, Denver Parton and Bobby Parton, Dolly (Carl) Dean, Cassie (Greg) Griffin; and Rachel (Eric) )George.”
Parton’s funeral is planned for November 19.
