Natarajan Subramaniam, also known by the nickname Natty, began his career in Indian cinema as a cinematographer, working with Anurag Kashyap on the 1999 short film Last Train to Mahakali.
Later, he worked in Thalapathy Vijay’s 2002 film Youth, where he also had an uncredited role. Natti made his Hindi film debut with the unreleased Project Paanch. Apart from these films, he has been the cinematographer for notable projects such as Parineeta, Ajay Devgn’s Golmaal Returns, Raanjhanaa and Akshay Kumar’s Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty.
Apart from working behind the camera, Natti has also tried his hand at acting and has appeared in films such as Sathuranga Vettai, Richie and Namma Veetu Pillai.

Maharaja starring Vijay Sethupathi is an action-thriller film directed by Nithilan Swaminathan. The film depicts the story of a barber shop owner who tries to file a complaint at the police station to find his “Lakshmi”, a steel dustbin that has gone missing from a robbery.
As the story progresses, more details are revealed about the barber’s determination to get his Lakshmi back and how he finally succeeds. Apart from Vijay, the film also stars Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, Natarajan Subramaniam, Abhirami Gopikumar, Singampuli, Aruldoss, Munishkanth and Bharathiraja in pivotal roles.
Slated to release on June 14, 2024, Maharaja is VJS’ 50th cinematic film and has received positive reviews from critics.
