Trigger warning: This article mentions death.
Shannen Doherty, who passed away recently, loved her dog Bowie very much. The actress had a very close bond with her pet and often talked about him. Let’s find out some things about Bowie, who, according to the late actress, sensed her cancer even before she was diagnosed.
Shannen Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015.
Who is Bowie?
The year 2015 was the saddest for Shannen Doherty and her close ones. That year she was diagnosed with breast cancer, however, Doherty herself later said that she was cured in the year 2017.
But the cancer returned in 2019. It was during this time that the Beverly Hills 90210 actress began to open up about her cancer. She told Entertainment Tonight in 2016 that she thought her pet Bowie had sensed something was wrong with her body even before her cancer diagnosis in 2015.
The actress revealed that Bowie “obsessively sniffed my right side for a long time.”
Bowie is a purebred German Shepherd who was gifted to Doherty by her ex-husband Kurt Iswarienko. Wishing him a happy birthday, the Little House on the Prairie actress posted several photos on Instagram in March. Here, Bowie can be seen having a happy time running around the grasslands, as Doherty wrote a cute caption as well.
Sharing her words, Doherty called Bowie “the best dog in the world. I love you obsessively.”
One photo also showed Bowie wearing a pink sleeveless T-shirt with the words “Security” written on it.
Much to everyone’s surprise, Bowie also has his own social media account named missbowiedoherty. On his social media account, the first post was uploaded in October 2016. While the entire account is filled with memorable pictures, the most recent picture shows the pet dog, Bowie doing FaceTime with another pet dog who is his friend. The post was uploaded in December 2020.
The actress mentioned Bowie multiple times on her podcast, even in her final episode, which aired on June 28.
