Arvind Srinivas has found himself in the midst of a global technical interaction after his company, Perplexity AI proposed unexpected $ 34.5 billion to buy Google’s Chrome Browser. This number is staggering, not just because it exceeds its $ 14 billion of double perplexity, but because Chrome is one of the most important products of Google. With an estimated user base of over three billion worldwide, Chrome is not just a browser – it is an entrance to Google’s discovery, advertising and cloud services. So a three -year -old AI company has attracted attention to the world to swoop.

Aravind Srinivas, CEO and co-founder of Perplexity AI, were born in Chennai, India. He studied at IIT Madras before going to America for further education at the University of California, Berkeley. According to his public profile, his early career included the work with the leading AI researcher Yoshua Bengio and a term on Google, giving him a close approach to search and operating internet technologies. In 2022, along with Denis Yarsh, Johnny Ho, and Andy Convinski, he launched the perplexity AI to the AI-Integrated Search Engine designed to provide direct, conversational answers using real-time information.

The proposal for Chrome arrives at a sensitive time for Google. In the US, the company has been killed with just one major antitrust ruling. An American District Judge, Amit P Mehta, found that Google had illegally maintained its discovery monopoly, with a huge amount of money to remain a default search engine on equipment and browsers. While the judge is considering potential measures, one of which can theoretically force Google to sell Chrome, the discovery giant has said that this will appeal, a process that may take years. For now, there is no indication that Google is voluntarily ready to participate with Chrome.

This has not stopped people who guess the objectives of Srinivas. On social media, some have rejected the move as unrealistic, stating that Chrome is deeply tied in Google’s system. Others see it as a calculation pracharak. By making the bid public, Perplexity has attracted attention around the world and deployed himself in a conversation about the future of the Internet competition.

Even more importantly, the resources of perplexity make real purchases challenging. The company has so far raised around $ 1 billion, which has large-nam-nam backers such as Nvidia and SoftBank, but will require large-scale investment for financing a cash deal of $ 34.5 billion. Private equity can provide this, but it will come with heavy debt and major operating risks. Even if the purchase passed in some way, running the chrome outside the integrated ecosystem of Google can reduce its value, as other independent browsers have discovered.

Nevertheless, Perplexity has not quietly created its ambitions. The company recently launched its AI-operated browser, comet, and continued to pitch themselves as a challenging for traditional search engines.
