Val Kilmar is known for many of his prestigious on-screen characters, but a role that fans will always remember that he is the top gun’s isemman. The actor received significant praise from critics and made the audience a fan favorite for the character Lieutenant Tom Isaman Kazanski. In his memoir in 2020, the actor revealed that initially, he no longer wanted to be a part of the film.

He revealed that the only reason he also met director Tony Scott as he was forced by his agent at that time. “I didn’t want to run. I didn’t care about the film. The story did not make me interested. My agent, who also represented Tom Cruise, tortured me at least to meet Tony Scott, saying that he was one of the hottest directors in the city.”

In fact, he was so indifferent in the film that he looked like a fool to read his lines. According to his memoirs, I am Your Rakbarery, the actor wore “Australian Australian shorts” in Nausea Green for a big audition. However, when Kilmer tried his best to perform his worst performance from the creators, he still ended with the part, much for his disappointment.

“I read the lines indifferently. And yet, surprisingly, I was told that I had a part. I felt that I had more decomposed than inflated. I had to leave.” Finally he had to accept the role due to constructive obligations, even though Scott assured him that the script would improve.

Kilmer has repeated many times how much he did not like the script originally. He admitted in his documentary, Val, that he not only considered it “foolish”, but also “warmly.”

Somehow, Kilmar finished to play the role, which would make him part of a cult classic, and seal his legacy.
