Kiran Rao returned to the directorial chair after many years and made a film that impressed the whole of India. Missing Ladies not only became a critically acclaimed film, but it also became a huge box office success. It received so much love that it was recently sent as India’s official nomination for the upcoming Oscars 2025. Celebrating this special day, Aamir Khan Productions released a video showing how the team got teary-eyed upon watching the comedy-drama together on the big screen for the first time.
The video begins with everyone heavily promoting Missing Ladies as Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao’s names appear on the big screen. As the camera pans to the audience and the cast, we see actor Ravi Kishan (who played Sub-Inspector Shyam Manohar) warmly hugging the director. Actresses Nitanshi Goyal (Phool Kumari) and Pratibha Ranta (Jaya Tripathi Singh) are seen shedding tears of joy and hugging each other. Ravi then takes the mic and says that he has worked in 750 films in different languages and he never cried. But that day, he was moved to tears upon watching the film.
To keep an eye:
Aamir Khan also appeared in the video and was seen praising Rao. He said that when he liked the story, he told Kiran about it and he did his job well as a director and producer. Khan concluded by saying, “This is one of the best films we have produced.” The Dhobi Ghat filmmaker also introduced the entire cast to the audience present at the screening.
After hearing the news of the film being selected for the 97th Academy Awardsth The Academy Award-nominated talent told us in an exclusive interview, “It feels surreal that a meaningful film like Missing Ladies will be representing India at the Academy Awards. As actors, we always dream of being a part of something that leaves a lasting impact, and to be a part of a film that is gaining international recognition is beyond my wildest dreams.”
Kiran Rao also wrote a long post on social media thanking the actors and the entire team who helped in making the film.
