Mahima Chaudhary started her acting career in 1997 with the film Pardes. The actress was rising to fame when she met with a fatal accident that left scars on her face. But since she did not want her career to take a hit, she requested her ‘Dil Kya Kare’ co-star Ajay Devgan and director Prakash Jha not to speak about the incident to ‘save’ her career.
During the beginning of her career, veteran Indian actress Mahima Choudhary met with an accident that resulted in 67 pieces of glass cutting her face. While speaking to Radio Nasha, the star said that when the incident happened, she did not realize that she had multiple wounds on her face. When she went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror, she realized that her face was hurt. But before that she was telling Dil Kya Kare director Prakash Jha that if nothing happened then she should continue shooting the film. But the filmmaker refused to do so and suggested that they should wait, go out and talk about new dates.
When he returned after interacting with actor and producer of the film, Ajay Devgan, the first thing he said to him was, “Please don’t tell anyone that I have gone through this. Let me at least try to see through what means I can save my career.” Since then, both the celebs never talked about it to anyone including the production team. It was Mahima who finally broke her silence about this accident after 20 years. “I’d appreciate it. I used to go on the set and everyone could see it,” she recalled.
The Dhadkan actress said that a film magazine secretly documented it and called her ‘Scarface’. But apart from this there was no discussion about his injury. At the time when she thought she would not be able to come out of it, the Singham Again star told her that everything would be fine after the surgery, but she did not believe it. “I was thinking about other career options. Even today one of my eyes is smaller than the other. At that time, it was very stressful,” she said, adding that she never faced the camera directly and always tilted her face slightly. Eventually, Dil Kya Kare, which also starred Kajol and Chandrachud Singh, was a box office success.
