WhatsApp is trying to make the video call experience even better. The most popular messaging app is now bringing AR (Augmented Reality) feature to video calling. According to the latest report, the feature was under beta testing for Android and now iOS users will also be able to see it. The feature aims to bring a new level of personalization and interactivity to video calls, making them even more engaging and fun. For now, the AR feature for call effects and filters is available to some beta testers who install the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS. According to a report by WBBetaInfo, the feature will soon be rolled out to more users in the coming weeks.

A key feature here is dynamic facial filters, which enable users to personalise the appearance of their video calls in real-time, reports WBBetaInfo. These filters allow on-the-fly adjustments to the colour tone of the video feed, giving users more control over how to present themselves. A background editing feature has also been unveiled, which expands video call customisation options. This tool lets users either blur their surroundings or replace it with a selection of pre-designed backgrounds offered by WhatsApp, adding an extra layer of personalisation to virtual interactions.

According to the report, WhatsApp has introduced a convenient low-light mode toggle to enhance visibility in low-light spaces. By simply turning it on, users can instantly enhance the lighting quality of their video feed, facilitating clearer communication even in environments with limited natural light. The feature is especially useful for evening calls or for users who often find themselves in low-light conditions.

Apart from this, this new update will also bring WhatsApp’s Touch-Up mode. It provides a subtle, natural-looking filter that gradually removes skin imperfections, giving a more refined look on video calls. Ideal for both important discussions and casual chats, the feature enhances users’ visuals without the need for elaborate lighting, adding a touch of brightness and playfulness to virtual interactions.

The upcoming WhatsApp update introduces a Touch-up Mode, a discreet filter that subtly enhances users’ appearance on video calls by removing skin imperfections, perfect for both professional and informal conversations, and brings a natural glow to virtual conversations.

It is worth noting that WhatsApp will automatically remember the previous configuration settings, such as the selected background and color filter, when making a new video call. This means that users do not have to repeatedly adjust their settings every time they start a new call as WhatsApp will always apply the last used background and filter.
