WhatsApp is set to release a major update, providing a new feature that will allow users to add music to their status updates, making the platform more interactive and visually attractive. Updates inspired by early internet trends and features found on other meta-owned platforms such as Instagram are set to roll out globally in the coming weeks.
With this new addition, WhatsApp users will soon have the option to include the snipet of popular songs in their status updates, which disappear after 24 hours. According to WhatsApp’s original company Meta, platform music library will offer millions of songs to select users, allowing them to improve their position with individual music clips. This feature will be integrated within the current status updated interface, along with lessons, photos and videos -users that can already share.
When the users tap to add a position, a music note will appear on top of the icon screen, allowing them to add music to their posts. Users can select up to 15 seconds of a song with a photo or for 60 seconds, giving more depth to status updates. This feature reflects the music facility of the popular stories of Instagram, which has a similar way to share whatsApp users with personalization connected through music.
A main attraction of new music feature is the ability to select a specific part of the track to share for users. It can be a chorus, a meaningful song, or an attractive sound cutting – jumping on the viral trend becomes easy or simply adds an additional layer of emotion to their position update.
In addition to music for WhatsApp status, the Internet taps into nostalgia, reminding of the features seen on older platforms like MySpace and AIM, where users will facilitate music as self-expression on their profiles. By reviving this trend, WhatsApp expects users to share moments and express themselves to a newly introduced familiar way to express themselves.
With all the ingredients on WhatsApp, the status updates remain end-to-end encrypted. This means that when users can add songs to their status updates, WhatsApp will not be able to see the specific content shared.
