Donny Osmond got the best advice from the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, which he still holds close to his heart to this day. The actor, who recently returned to the stage as part of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, recalled his conversation with Presley.
Speaking to People magazine, Osmond talked about his relationship with social media and referenced a song from his debut album about what he could have done with social media during the days of Puppy Love. However, he said he “really enjoys” connecting with his supporters.
On that subject, he recalled Presley’s similar words of advice to him. “I remember when we were talking to Elvis one day, even our family, he said, ‘If I could do it all over again, I’d be closer to my fans,’ ‘ he adds.
He recalled being impressed by the megastar at the age of 14. Presley also felt the lack of means to connect more closely with his fans and loved ones. She said, “The reason I do it is because it comes from the king.”
In an interview with People magazine, Osmond revealed that her fan base has expanded since her earlier career and credited the various projects she has recently produced. He revealed that a lot of young people discovered him because of social media, especially when they realized he was the voice of Captain Shang in Mulan.
He said, “Every night when I come out and look at the stage door, I see little kids with their moms and people in their 30s and 20s who say, ‘I’ve been watching this all my life.’ The composer’s latest endeavor is his lead role as Andrew Lloyd Webber in Tim Rice’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which he has played for the past 30 years.
He told People magazine that he felt déjà vu while reprising his iconic character on stage. “It was absolutely amazing,” he said of the opening night.
