Here are the top benefits of eating a clove daily:

1. Enhances immune function

Cloves have antibacterial properties, making them excellent for strengthening immunity. According to Dr. Jangda, these properties help in dealing with common problems like cold, cough and flu. Adding a clove to your daily routine can help your body fight infections more effectively.

2. Supports blood sugar management

Cloves may be beneficial for people with diabetes or prediabetes. A study conducted by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) showed that cloves have anti-diabetic properties and may help in the control of hyperleptinemia in type 2 diabetes.

3. Promotes oral health

Clove is often found in oral care products due to its effectiveness in improving dental health. Dr Jangda highlights their analgesic properties, which can ease toothache and fight bacteria in the mouth. According to the NIH, teeth treated with clove oil showed a reduction in decalcification relative to controls.

4. Rich in antioxidants

Dr Jangda also says that cloves are rich in antioxidants, which protect the body from cell damage caused by free radicals. It may reduce oxidative stress, reducing the risk of diseases and cellular damage.

How many cloves should you eat a day?

Dr. Jangra recommends starting with one clove per day to improve your health. Once you like the taste, you can increase your intake to 3-4 cloves per day. However, avoid consuming too much as it may cause side effects like diarrhea, slow blood clotting or nausea.

How to include cloves in your daily diet

1. Add to herbal tea

Grind some cloves and add them to your herbal tea. This will not only increase its taste but will also provide health benefits.

2. Use in cooking

Add cloves to savory dishes, sweets or spice blends in your diet. Whole or ground cloves also work well in simple tadka.

3. Prepare water containing cloves

For a quick alternative, make water infused with cloves. Boil 2-3 cloves in water for a few minutes and enjoy the healthy drink.

Cloves have many benefits for overall health. However, Dr. Jangra advises caution as cloves have vata and kapha doshas, ​​which aggravate pitta (digestive fire). If you are prone to acid reflux or heartburn, it is best to avoid them.
