Effect of morning tea on stomach health:Healthy alternative to morning tea

Tea is a favorite drink of many people, especially in the morning. Its warmth and flavor can be comforting, making it a staple in countless households. However, have you ever wondered how your morning tea can affect your gut health? In an Instagram post, Dr. Snehal Adsule emphasized that drinking tea on an empty stomach can cause many digestive problems. “Imagine you wake up early in the morning, feeling hungry and excited to have breakfast. You go to the kitchen, and the first thing you do is make a cup of tea. You drink the tea, and it tastes delicious, but Over time, you feel nauseous and dizzy, unable to eat anything and spend the entire day without any productivity,” the expert writes. Can you relate?

Effect of morning tea on stomach health:

According to Dr. Snehal Adsule, the main reason behind problems like acidity and nausea is the caffeine present in tea. While caffeine may increase alertness, it also stimulates the production of stomach acid. When consumed on an empty stomach, this excess acid can cause symptoms such as stomach pain, bloating, and in severe cases, vomiting. Over time, these problems can create a cycle of discomfort that affects your daily activities.

Additionally, tea contains tannins, which are compounds that can interfere with the absorption of essential nutrients like iron and calcium. If your morning routine revolves around tea along with food, you risk missing out on these vital nutrients. This is especially worrisome for individuals who rely on their morning meal to provide the energy and nutrition needed for a busy day.

Healthy alternative to morning tea

In light of these concerns, Dr. Snehal Adsule suggests an approach that prioritizes your gut health. She emphasizes the importance of starting your day with a solid food instead of liquid caffeine. Just as a car needs fuel to run efficiently, your body needs proper nutrition to function optimally.

Celebrity nutritionist Pooja Makhija also agrees with the same sentiment and advises against starting the day with caffeine. “Never start your day with caffeine — whether it’s coffee or tea,” she warns. “Caffeine should not be the first thing you give your body on an empty stomach. You need to have some solids in your stomach before taking caffeine; otherwise, it can produce stomach acid and impair your digestion throughout the day. Can do.”

So, what can you do instead? Makhija recommends options like a glass of fresh juice, a bowl of fruit or even warm water to kick-start your system. These options not only provide hydration but also provide essential nutrients that prepare your stomach for the caffeine boost that tea can provide later.

By making a conscious decision not to drink tea on an empty stomach, you prioritize your digestive health. Starting your day with a nutritious breakfast can improve your overall health, helping you feel more energetic and focused throughout the day.

Ultimately, it’s about making choices that align with your health goals. Instead of drinking that comforting cup of tea first thing in the morning, consider taking some time to nourish your body with whole foods. This small adjustment can have a significant impact on your gut health and overall productivity.
