Emma Roberts is set to play the lead role in the Britney Spears biopic. While rumors of the actress playing the singer have been circulating on the Internet, Roberts clarified that these reports were not true.
In a chat with Cosmo, the Holiday star opened up about landing her dream role after the singer’s assistant claimed the actress was set to play Spears.
Speaking to the entertainment portal, the actress shared that when she was younger, she would listen to Spears’ songs with her room door closed. “I thought, I really liked her assistant,” Roberts elaborated.
She added, “I mean, it’s my true dream to play Britney Spears. It’s a rumor, but I hope it might come true. I mean, I remember locking myself in my room and listening to In the Zone and saying, ‘I can’t leave this room until I memorize every word.'”
Roberts also revealed that she used to play Britney songs while giving her son a bath. “I mean, I always sing Britney songs while giving my son a bath. I always think, ‘Oh my god, he must think I’m weird.’ That’s some millennial parenting,” the Madame Web actress said.
One longtime assistant of the Toxic singer was impressed by Roberts’ stardom as a child when she saw her on Disney shows, including The All New Mickey Mouse Club, and Nickelodeon’s Unfabulous.
Spears’ personal assistant Culotta also claimed that she thinks Timothée Chalamet could play the singer’s ex-husband Justin Timberlake, and that Drew Barrymore could play the assistant.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Spears announced earlier this month that she would be collaborating with Platt. On her X account, the singer wrote, “So excited to share with my fans that I’m working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt. He’s always made some of my favorite movies… stay tuned.”
Talking about the singer’s memoir, The Woman in Me, the book topped the rankings and was considered a New York Times bestseller. The book takes a look at Britney’s life from Mississippi to Louisana and later her journey to becoming a singer by releasing her first studio album in 1999.
