The upcoming film, which is based on the popular video game, follows an age-old and fascinating concept. Like its predecessors, Tron and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, A Minecraft Movie takes place in both the real world and the arcade game.
Talking about Jason Momoa’s character, his portrayal initially faced criticism from viewers who watched the teaser trailer. In the trailer, he is seen wearing a pink jacket and some unconventional attire, but there is a reason behind the character’s eccentric look.
As revealed in a recently released exclusive Insights video about A Minecraft Movie, the Justice League star plays Garrett Garrison.
Garrett Garrison is a former arcade gaming veteran of the 1980s. Known by his nickname “Garrett the Garbage Man”, he has not moved on from his glory days, still clinging to his old life.
This explains why her wardrobe is a mix of vintage attire and some modern fashion pieces.
The film’s director, Jared Hayes, said in the video that Garrett still lives in the past, when he was on top of the arcade gaming world.
According to Jason Momoa, Garrett loves the color pink.
The Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom actor commented, “Right now, he’s definitely such a tired guy having shot to fame at such a young age.”
He then also said that Garrett the Garbage Man hasn’t really felt a hug in a long time.
Additionally, the Momoa film also features the acting talents of Jack Black as Steve, along with young actors Emma Myers who will star as Natalie, and Sebastian Eugene Henson who will be playing the role of Henry.
A Minecraft movie will be released on April 4, 2025.
