‘West Philippine Sea’, once invisible to most users, now seen on Google Maps

A Google Map scan on Monday of the water of water directly to the west of the Philippines now shows the invisible name to most users – the West Philippine Sea.

According to AFP journalists, the Philippine government’s favorite name could already be seen for the disputed waterway known as the South China Sea, according to AFP journalists.

The South China Sea name appears to the north and west of the region known as the West Philippine Sea.

Beijing, despite an international decision, has almost claimed the South China Sea that its claim has no merit.

China has deployed Navy and Coast Guard ships into a dialect to prevent the Philippines from strategically important rocks and islands in the strategic waterway, causing a link to conflict in recent months.

Franceel Margreth Padila, a spokesman of the Philippine Armed Forces, welcomed the ‘West Philippine Sea’ on Google Maps on Monday.

“As defenders of national sovereignty, (military) as a valuable contribution for true representation and public awareness,” he said in a statement.

In April 2012, a directive was issued by the then-Filipin President Benigno Acwino, which was calling as a deadlock on the Scarboro Shole to change the name of the SEA, which was heating up between Beijing and Manila.

The administrative order stated that the enrolled areas are specially included in the surrounding water along the Luzon Sagar, along with the water, the Kalayan Islands and the water near the Bajo de Macinalok, which is also known as Scarborough Shool “.

AFP journalists visited Google Maps last year, which was revealed as the West Philippine Sea, only visible when discovered by the name, but is invisible to those who scrolled only in the region.

It was not immediately clear what Google inspired to make changes.

Google, Philippine Foreign Ministry and Manila were not immediately responded to asking for a message comment for the Chinese Embassy.
