Technological progress is irreversible – or is it? The OnePlus 15 has found itself surrounded by controversy as many of its components are seen as a downgrade compared to the OnePlus 13. Compare the reception to last year’s OnePlus 13 poll – the hype was clear.

To cover up? 1272p+ instead of 1440p+. camera? The main ones include a smaller sensor (1/1.56″ vs 1/1.43″) and telephoto module (1/2.76″ vs 1/1.95″). Price? Basically the same.

And this is the central point of the argument – ​​the OnePlus 15 currently costs as much as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Sure, it has a newer chipset (but the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 has clearly spent quite a bit of budget) and a larger 7,300mAh battery (2,300mAh larger than the Galaxy!). However, OnePlus is expected to offer better value than Samsung.

There are two groups that are currently unhappy with the OnePlus 15. One group wants a capable flagship and the OnePlus 13 was quite capable in their eyes – however, the 15 falls short with its downgraded cameras. The other group wants a value-for-money flagship and thinks the downgrade to Rs 15 should have come with a corresponding price cut.

The former group is considering buying the OnePlus 13 or paying extra for an Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi or other flagship. The latter group will be shopping for deals from iQOO, Poco, and others. The recently arrived Realme GT 8 Pro puts a spoke in the wheel of the OnePlus 15.

The GT8 Pro brings solid camera upgrades over the GT7 Pro with a 200MP periscope and a 50MP ultra-wide (up from 8MP on the older model). These are the kind of upgrades the OnePlus 15 needed.

Of course, there’s still hope – OnePlus is no stranger to deals and discounts and we’ll be keeping an eye on the 15.
