Weekly survey: Honor 200 and Honor 200 Pro will be launched globally, will anyone buy it?

The Honor 200 and 200 Pro are reaching a global audience – pre-orders start today, with open sales on July 28. The vanilla phone costs £500 (and comes with a free JBL Charge 5 Wi-Fi), while the Pro model is £700 (which comes with the Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 8 50W BT speaker).

The two are pretty similar, except that the Honor 200 Pro has a larger, curved 6.78″ display, a more powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset and 66W wireless charging for the 5,200mAh battery. The cameras are also slightly different, with a larger 1/1.3″ 50MP sensor in the main on the back and a depth sensor on the front for 3D face scanning.

The Honor 200 has a flat 6.7” display (both are 10-bit 120Hz OLED), a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, and a small but not tiny 1/1.56” 50MP sensor in the main. The 50MP 2.5x tele and 12MP ultra wide, as well as the 50MP selfie cameras are the same. Wired charging is up to 100W for both phones. One last important thing to note is that while the Pro model has an IP65 rating, the vanilla has no dust or water resistance rating.

Now that you know what you’re getting with Honor, let’s quickly look at the alternatives. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is well above budget, even with the discount. You can get the Galaxy S24+ for under £800, but it often costs more. The Galaxy S24 costs over £700 and is too small anyway, but the Galaxy A55 can be had for less than the price of the Honor 200.

Unless you want to buy an older model like the 13T, you can pick up the Poco F6 Pro for £500, for example. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 12R is currently £550 and the flagship OnePlus 12 can be had for £800.

Before you make up your mind, don’t forget to check out our Honor 200 Pro review. Spoiler alert: the screen and camera quality are great, although the camera gave us some issues.

So let’s start with the Honor 200 Pro first, will you buy it or are you considering other options?

How about the Honor 200? Is it worth spending £200 extra for a slightly better chipset and camera, or is it better to stick to the vanilla model?
