Mark Carney on Friday recalled Justin Trudeau as Prime Minister of Canada, India as “recession in India-Canada”. New Delhi blamed the “license given to extremists” for stressful relations under Justin Trudeau, hoping to rebuild them after a change in Canada’s leadership.
Justin Trudeau’s expulsion was over last week when the Canadian ruling Liberal party replaced him with a new Prime Minister. On March 14, a completely new cabinet was sworn in. Both Ottawa and New Delhi now expect the reconstruction of relations, which are currently a historical low.
On a question about Canada in a weekly press briefing, India’s Foreign Ministry today said that “the recession in India-Canada was due to the license that was given to extremist and separatist elements in the country”, saying that “our hope is” our hope that we can rebuild our relations on the basis of mutual trust and sensitivity. “

Shortly before taking oath as Prime Minister, Mark Carney also expressed eagerness to build relations with “like -minded countries” and called the opportunity to rebuild relations with India as a “opportunity”, on which he wants to work.
He said, “What Canada wants to do, is to diversify our business relations with equal ideology countries – and there are opportunities for reconstruction of relations with India. There is a need to have a common sense of values around that commercial relationship, and once I am the Prime Minister, I am ready to opportunity to make it,” he said.
Recession in India-Canada relations under Justin Trudeau
The relations between India and Canada saw a sharp decline after the increase in incidence of radicalism and extremism by the ‘Khalistani’ separatist groups, which was allowed by Justin Trudeau, described them as “free speech” and “freedom of expression”. The effigies of a former Indian Prime Minister were allowed to burn, the Indian flag was provoked and humiliated, the Indian embassy and the consulate and the premises were being threatened and attacked, and the audio and video clips of India-declared terrorists openly openly threaten and attack Indian soil, which are anything.
Last year, Justin Trudeau also attended an event where ‘Khalistan’ slogans were raised as they addressed the gathering. On several occasions, Mr. Trudeau accused the “Khalistani” separatist and nominated terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijar killing “without evidence”.
Justin Trudeau’s government also nominated the Indian High Commissioner and other embassy officials as “individuals of interest” in the investigation of the private case. He was later declared a “personality non -grata” by the Trudeau government, after which New Delhi recalled the then Hollen High Commissioner in Canada “going far”. In a tight-for-tat step, India sent the Canadian High Commission officials as a house packing as the ties came to a near-standstill.
Later, when Mr. Trudeau publicly acknowledged that the participation of the Government of India officials in the murder of Hardip Nijar was “no difficult proof”, New Delhi replied that “the responsibility for the damage caused by this Cavalier behavior is with Prime Minister Trudeau due to India-Canada relations.”
For months, India repeatedly urged Ottawa to “stop providing a safe shelter to criminal and separatist elements in Canada”.
The Foreign Ministry of India said, “The celebration and glory of violence should not be a part of any civilized society. Democratic countries that respect the rule of law should not allow them to scare by radical elements in the name of freedom of expression,” the Ministry of External Affairs of India said.
Foreign Minister S Jaishankar last year, blaming Justin Trudeau for catering for a vote bank, said that “Khalistani” is repeatedly showing the Canadian government (led by Justin Trudeau) that his vote bank is more powerful than its law. “
He said, “Honor India and practices freedom of speaking, but it does not equal the freedom of threatening foreign diplomats, supports separatism or allows political space to elements advocating violence and terror,” he said.
