Shaboozie’s rise to the top is no mean feat. The singer’s new track, A Bar Song (Tipsy), has topped two Billboard charts, making him history as the second-most Black artist to do so.
Ever the headline-grabber, Shaboozi knows how to celebrate his record-breaking effort. He was delighted to share the win with his fans and took to his social media to announce A Bar Song reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Shabooji thanks fans for the success of A Bar song
Shaboozie’s latest track, A Bar Song (Tipsy), reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 after ruling the Hot Country Songs chart this week. His first chart-topper, the 29-year-old singer becomes one of two Black artists to top both charts simultaneously.
Beyoncé achieved this historic feat this year with her hit song Texas Hold ‘Em from her new album Cowboy Carter.
A Bar Song (Tipsy) is paired with JK Vaughn’s hit song, Tipsy, which was released exactly a decade ago. This may have influenced the song’s blockbuster success, in addition to its catchy beats and funny lyrics. A Bar Song (Tipsy) is included on Shaboozy’s new album, Where I’ve Been, Ain’t Where I’m Going.
Shaboozy took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to celebrate his long-awaited win after dedicating years of his life to music. In the post on Tuesday, July 8, he declared, “We did it. We’re No. 1. I love you all.” Quoting a lyric from the track, the singer added, “Get a double shot of whiskey for me!” and wished everyone a “Happy Bar Song Day.”
A bar song replaced Beyoncé’s Texas Hold ‘Em, jumping from No. 6 to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart this week. According to Billboard, this is the first time two Black artists have topped the chart consecutively.
The Virginia native made his big jump up the Billboard charts shortly after collaborating with Beyoncé in March. Shaboozie is featured on two songs from Queen Bey’s 2024 album, Cowboy Carter, namely, Spaghetti ft. Linda Martell and Sweet/Honey/Buckin’.
However, the first big wave of his career came in 2018 when Shaboozi teamed up with Duckworth to create the high-spirited soundtrack, Start a Riot, for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Shaboozi’s manager reflects on the significance of his win
Shaboozie’s co-manager, Jared Cotter, shared his thoughts on what A Bar Song’s win means to him and the community. In a new interview with Billboard, Cotter reflected on the evolution of the country music genre and the progress the Black community has made in that area.
He added, “It’s a positive sign that times are changing and country listeners just want great music, no matter who it’s from.” The manager also credited Beyoncé for making room for emerging artists like Shaboozie, who has been a milestone in the latter’s career. Cotter added, “The Beyoncé bounce is real!”
Meanwhile, Shaboozi revealed that winning “feels like a dream” that he thinks will end the moment he wakes up, as People reported. It’s definitely a shocking moment.
