Director-producer Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari says the industry has evolved to give equal opportunities to both men and women in all aspects of filmmaking. In an exclusive interview with India Today DigitalThe ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ director today underlined the importance of women taking big steps to change the way films are conceived, written and produced for audiences.

Ashwini said, “If we look at the last three to four years, we have had a lot of women-led films. Be it by actors, by directors or by producers. The film Missing Ladies, which has gone to the Oscars, was led by a woman. The Cannes film All the Light We Imagine is led by a woman and tells the story of three women, an official Oscar entry directed by some excellent male and female writers and producers. done by We have come a long way from being afraid to write and creating content for women, to seeing them happening and women writing stories that everyone can enjoy.

The producer also highlighted how people have started focusing on getting things done on a large scale rather than focusing on whether a man or a woman is making it possible. Ashwini mentioned that most of the major studios in the Indian film industry are being run by women and the focus on this is a great change.

“Most of the best producers are women who are leading their respective studio setups. It’s all about setting up movies and seeing what’s going on. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if you’re a man or Women who are making films, it all depends on who gets the work done – from setting up the films, to completing them with the right actors and having a vision for a given film, the brhood exists. For Ashwini, it is extremely important that she is always telling a story and not just making a film, whether she is working as a producer or director. When asked what kind of projects she likes to support, she explained, “The story I believe in is something that follows my nature as a storyteller. I ask Can I watch this film with my family? Ashwini is currently making a project with Excel Entertainment, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kiara Advani in the lead roles.
