World leaders led by US President Joe Biden sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the G7 summit venue.

There was a heart-warming moment at the G-7 summit venue in Italy on Friday when world leaders wished German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on his birthday and sang ‘Happy Birthday’ together.
A video of the event shows British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau greeting Scholz. Then, US President Joe Biden joined them.
When Leyen told Biden that “it’s his [Scholz’s] It’s his birthday today,” Biden asked, adding, “Did you sing a birthday song for him?” He then added, “In the Biden family, you have to sing Happy Birthday on birthdays.”
Afterward, the leaders began singing Happy Birthday to Scholz, who thanked them for their work.

Olaf Scholz has been serving as Chancellor of Germany since December 2021. He is a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). Before becoming chancellor, Scholz held several prominent political positions, including vice chancellor and finance minister in the coalition government led by Chancellor Angela Merkel from 2018 to 2021.
The three-day G-7 summit hosted by Italy is underway in Apulia. Joe Biden, Rishi Sunak, Justin Trudeau, Olaf Scholz, Emmanuel Macron and Ursula von der Leyen, as well as Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and European Council President Charles Michel, are also attending the summit.
Leaders of 10 other outreach countries, including India, are also participating in the summit.
