Pop star Selena Gomez’s recent video with an Indian fan is gaining widespread attention on the internet. In the clip, the Indian man asks the 32-year-old American singer-actor to chant “Jai Shri Ram” for a video selfie.
The video, which was initially shared by photographer Pallav Paliwal on Instagram, shows Selena posing for a selfie with a fan. After thanking her for the photo, as she starts to leave, he requests, “Say Jai Shri Ram”. Selena responds with “Jai Shri Ram”, but poses it as a question, indicating that she is interested in what she is being asked to say.
The man then explains to Selena, “India’s best slogan – Jai Shri Ram.”
“Oh, thank you, darling,” Selena replied.

The video was shared on Instagram with the caption, “One of our followers met Selena Gomez and she said ‘Jai Shri Ram’ on the occasion of Diwali.” However, curious fans were quick to point out that the video is not recent. She highlighted that Selena’s outfit was the same one she wore to the Cannes Film Festival this year.

As soon as it went viral on Instagram and X, the video received negative feedback from social media users. One comment read, “Don’t you guys feel embarrassed? (sic).” Another Instagram user said, “I’m sorry on her behalf, Selena.” One user even called the video “embarrassing”.

The video on Pallav Paliwal’s post has received 21,783 likes and more than 12 lakh views.
