You have probably seen “this or that” trend flood Instagram. It is a cute reel format where a person holds two chits with options – perhaps “coffee” or “tea,” “pizza” or “burger” – and the other chooses one. Then, they go to join the selected treatment. But this middle -aged couple gave the trend a hearty turn that is winning the internet. The video begins like any other trend video. The husband caught two handwritten notes, both were decorated with heart. One says that McDonald’s, the other pizza hut. The wife chooses McDonald’s. You expect to follow a food distribution. But no – what came next, the fries were made completely of scratches.

The husband begins with four medium-sized potatoes wash, then peel them into thin strips and pieces-in the way you see in a fry basket in a fast-food joint. Subsequently, he drops the slices into a steel tamballer filled with water, salt and oil, allowing them to come to a boil to soften them. He gives a parabold fries on a towel, carefully patting them dry to remove all moisture – a step that is important to achieve that crisp texture. In the form of potatoes, the man is seen making McDonald’s-style fry pouch, not from some templates or printers, but with handmade glue and paper. He uses a yellow crayon to attract the famous “M”, and to mimic the branding of fast food chain, color the rest with a bright red.
Back to the stove. He puts oil in a pan, drops in the fries, and shakes until they bend that perfect shade of golden brown. After drying the excess oil using a large metal sieve, he moves them to another vessel and sprinkles salt and masala. He then gives them a good shake before placing them in his handmade bag. And finally, he walks, presents the fries to his wife, and feeds her a one. She tastes it and says, “It’s great, thank you.” He posted a video on Instagram with the caption, “McDonald’s Fries for Patni ji (wife).”
