The Greatest of All Time (The Goat) starring Thalapathy Vijay in the lead was released in theatres on September 5. The film is breaking box office records with a collection of over Rs 100 crore. Amid the success of The Goat, it has been revealed that Nayanthara was the first choice for this Vijay starrer instead of Sneha.
In a recent interview, director Venkat Prabhu revealed that Sneha was not his first choice to play Thalapathy Vijay’s wife in The Goat. He said that Nayanthara was first approached to play Vijay’s wife, but things did not work out.
He said, “I had initially planned to cast Nayanthara, but for some reason it couldn’t happen. However, the best part for me is that Nayan called me after watching the film and appreciated my decision to cast Sneha. He also praised Sneha’s acting and said that no one else could have played the role like her.”
According to a report by Saccanilk, Thalapathy Vijay starrer The Goat is close to the Rs 200 crore mark in India. The film has collected around Rs 170.75 crore in its first week in India. The film is doing well in the Tamil language.
Talking about this, Venkat Prabhu said in an interview that the climax of the film, which is related to CSK, was not liked by the audience outside Tamil Nadu. The director said, “I think GOAT was not liked by the Hindi and Telugu audience because of the CSK references. MI and RCB fans troll me all the time, because I am a CSK fan. I am a CSK supporter by blood, and I can’t do anything about it.”
He also shared his plans for the OTT release of the film and revealed that he wants to release an extended uncut version of The Goat on the OTT platform. The original runtime of the film is 3 hours and 40 minutes. Meanwhile, The Goat will also get a sequel titled Goat vs OG, which will shift its focus from the hero to the villain.
