When Raaj Shaandilyaa was looking for an actress for Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala video, he considered several stars before finalizing Kala actress Trupti Dimri. A report in Mid-Day confirms that the filmmaker had considered Nushrat Bharucha, Janhvi Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar, but since Rajkummar Rao had already worked with all of them, he decided to give Trupti a chance. Interestingly, they also thought of casting Shraddha Kapoor but at that time she was working opposite the male lead in Stree 2.
The director said that when he chose Trupti Dimri for the lead role, he also wrote another character keeping actress Mallika Sherawat in mind. In the interview, the writer and producer said that while working on his directorial debut Dream Girl in 2019, he started thinking about his next film. Since Rajkumar was busy at that time, he first thought of finishing Dream Girl 2. Meanwhile, he kept updating the script and finally, he was ready to work with it, with Raj saying that he had already approached actor Srikanth to play the lead role.
For those unaware, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala video is co-written and directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa and is backed by T-Series Films, Balaji Motion Pictures, Vakao Films and Kathavchak Films.
