Vivo V50E vs Vivo V40E: India’s Price, Glasses and Features Comparison

Vivo has just added its latest to the V series smartphones in India. The newest phone in the lineup is Vivo V50E, officially launched in India on 10 April. This model comes as the successor of previous year’s Vivo V40E and brings some major upgrades in design, camera and overall performance. Vivo used to tease the design and camera features of the phone before the launch, creating enthusiasm among fans and buyers. At first glance, with both phones looking quite similar, the important question is: what is new in V50, and is it upgraded to V40E? In this article, we compare the design, display, camera, battery and pricing of both smartphones to help make an informed decision.

Vivo V50E vs Vivo V40E: Design and Display

Both Vivo V50E and V40E have a smooth, curved design with a pill -shaped camera module at the back. The module has two camera sensors with aura ring LED flash. However, Vivo has made a small but useful change with V50E by incorporating a slight aura ring light, which helps capture better photos in low light. In terms of build, both phones have a plastic body, but the V50E is more durable, coming with IP68 and IP69 ratings. This means that it provides better dust and water resistance than V40E, which only has an IP64 rating.

For performance, both phones sports a 6.77 -inch AMOLED screen with a smooth 120Hz fresh rate. However, the V40E has a curved performance on the front, while the V50E has a quad-race panel, which hits the sweet space between a flat and a curved performance. The Vivo V50E gets an upgrade of 1800 NITs in a 1.5K resolution and high brightness mode (HBM) with a high bright level at V40E. This means better visibility under sunlight and crisp scenes.

Under the hood, both Vivo V40E and V50E are operated by MediaTek Demistance 7300 chipset, designed for balanced performance and efficiency. The V50E comes with 8GB RAM, as well as internal storage up to 256GB, similar to its predecessor.

However, there is a small collision in the battery capacity. Vivo V50E packs a 5600mAh battery, which is slightly higher than the 5500mAh of V40E. But the big improvement is in charging speed. The new model supports 90W fast charging, which is a big step from the old model, making it one of the fastest charging phones in its segment.

The Vivo V50E also comes with the latest Funtouch OS 15 software which comes at Android 15 vs Funtouch OS 14 Atop Android 14 V40E. Whereas, on the surface, the software experience feels more or less similar – V50e AI image expander, AI Transcript Assist, AI Note Assist, Live Call Translation, Circle to search and AI connects a group of AI to the software package including screen translation. AI Eraser 2.0 allows users to remove unwanted elements from photos, while AI superlinks increase connectivity in challenging network situations. Vivo has also included his Gemini AI assistant for smart, personal conversation.

Both phones offer a dual rear camera setup, leading the 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 sensor with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. The big difference is that V50E adds support for three separate portrait focal lengths – 1x (26 mm), 1.5x (39 mm), and 2x (52 mm). It gives users a more creative option when clicking on portrait. On the front, both phones have a 50-megapixel iF selfie camera.

Vivo V50E vs Vivo V40E: Price in India

When it comes to pricing, Vivo has kept things continuously. The Vivo V50E 8GB RAM + 128GB starts at Rs 28,999 for storage variants and goes up to Rs 30,999 for 8GB RAM + 256GB storage option – similar to the launch price of V40E.

Pre-booking of Vivo V50E has already begun, and the device from April 17 goes on sale across India at Vivo’s official website, Flipkart, Amazon and partner retail stores.

Vivo V50E vs Vivo V40E: Last Idea

The Vivo V50E brings some remarkable upgrades to V50E, especially in performance brightness, camera quality, AI features, water resistance and charging speed. While both phones look quite the same in design and performance, the camera features and fast charging improve V50E a solid upgrade. If you are using V40E and want better selfie, sharp top-up and better durability, then V50E can simply be worth it.
