Vivek Agnihotri says that Deepika Padukone was unaware of JNU politics during the 2020 visit
Director Vivek Agnihotri recently shared her views on actor Deepika Padukone’s visit to 2020 at the JNU campus during a protest. He also highlighted the risks associated with famous celebrities involved in politics.

Director Vivek Agnihotri shared his opinion on actor Deepika Padukone’s visit to 2020 JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University).
He said that Padukone was not aware of politics in JNU during his visit.
In an interview with Mascot mishra For his YouTube podcast, Agnihotri claimed that the actor may have been persuaded by his PR team to join the students in JNU.
The director of ‘The Bengal Files’ said, “I can guarantee that Deepika had no idea about JNU politics when she went there.”
On being interrupted about whether he means that the actor was not smart enough, Agnihotri further said, “It is not about being dumb.”
The director said, “Her PR must have told her that this is a good opportunity to promote your film, because the university is associated with politics, and the film is also political. If she knew, she would not have come,” the director said.
Agnihotri emphasized that connecting with politics could lead to unavoidable risks. He said, “You play with fire, you burn.”
The director said, “I do not know her personally, so I don’t know what ideology she aligns. I know she is a very smart and intelligent woman.”
Agnihotri further said, “She knew that it is a politically sensitive place and it can affect her career, she would not have gone to certainly.”
He said, “During the film promotion, a lot of voices say what the stars to do and to talk to. His PR was considered wrong, he thought that it is an incident. But it was not an incident. Big fish are fried to join politics.”
Padukone played the role of an acid-atac Survivor, Malti in ‘Chhap’ based on a sad real-life incident.
Amidst the promotion of his film, he visited JNU in solidarity with students protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Agnihotri, known to be politically outstanding on various issues, recently unveiled the teaser of his political-drama ‘The Bengal Files’. ,
The film includes Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumar, Puneet Isar and Saswata Chatterjee, others in important roles.
‘The Bengal Files’ is scheduled to release on 5 September.
