Renowned producer and AVM Studio head M. Saravanan passed away on December 4, 2025. The filmmaker, known for films like Rajinikanth’s Sivaji: The Boss, Thalapathy Vijay’s Minsara Kanavu, Suriya’s Ayaan and many more, was 86 when he passed away.
Actor Vishal has now penned a long, emotional note remembering the producer’s legacy.

Vishal said on his social media handle, "I just heard the news that the great filmmaker AVM Saravanan Sir, the most iconic producer of the film industry and the man behind AVM Studios has passed away and has left us all forever.”
The actor said he expresses his deepest condolences to the late producer and wishes that his soul rests in peace in the next life. He said that he remembers meeting Saravanan in his childhood, later as an assistant director, then as an actor and as a producer, and since he entered AVM Studios, which was a learning ground for him, it had helped shape him into the person he became in the film industry.
Vishal said that he has countless memories and that every producer looked up to Saravanan for his honesty and dedication, which is evident not only in his films but also in his commitment towards the film industry. He said that he always wished that Saravanan and his production house would continue to make great films, but now he sees the Indian film industry losing another great film personality.
The Magudam actor said, “Your memories will always remain in our minds, and your films will always be a learning base for aspiring filmmakers. May God give more strength to your family during this difficult time. RIP.”

According to reports, AVM Studios celebrated Saravanan’s 86th birthday on December 3, 2025. Just hours after his birthday, the veteran producer passed away the next morning. Reportedly, he died due to age-related ailments and was undergoing medical treatment for several months.
The mortal remains of the producer will be kept at the AVM studios till 3:30 pm for anyone wishing to have a last darshan.
