Vir Das considers it normal to feel ‘jealousy’ at posts of others’ New Year’s Eve wishes
Vir Das shared a candid New Year message, urging fans not to feel jealous of others’ social media posts and focus on creating meaningful stories.

Actor-comedian Vir Das gave his fans a reality check about others’ social media posts on New Year’s Eve. In a long note on Instagram, the Go Goa Gone actor described it as normal to ‘feel jealous’ of happy social media pictures. He encouraged his fans to work towards ‘creating a great story’ rather than creating a ‘main memory’.
Vir Das’s New Year’s Eve post for fans started with an update on how his year went. He wrote, “I had a great year. After about four absolutely wonderful New Year’s Eves. So I’m extremely conscious of how annoying it is to see people celebrating their year on social media. And sitting there- Sitting around feeling as if you’re the only one who doesn’t have their shit together, so if that’s you, know this: It’s not true that no one has their shit together, some people pretend to be better. Are.
“Or they had good luck in 2024, that’s karma earned over the years, be happy for them. But if their post is upsetting you, that’s great. Be angry, use it, be about it Write, channel it, even if you don’t, that’s okay too, just don’t judge yourself for feeling angry or angry or even jealous,” he adds.
He ended the note with the words, “A good year makes a good memory. But a lousy year, the one that makes a story. That’s gold. I’d choose a great story over a prime memory any day of the week.” Maybe next year is better, in which case it’s a comeback story, maybe next year it’s worse, which means this is the second hilarious act before your comeback, so tonight, get woozy Get angry, if you have to Swim in it if you want, God knows I did…it’s New Year’s Eve…everyone is allowed. But just know…you’re in a great story.”
