Director-lyricist Vignesh Shivan, who is awaiting the release of his upcoming film Love Insurance Company (LIK) recently opened up about his relationship with wife Nayanthara and how he feels about being recognized publicly through his identity.

In a recent conversation with YouTuber Gopinath Chandran, Vignesh addressed claims that Nayanthara could overshadow him in his career. Rejecting this notion, he said that such thoughts have no place in close relationships. He told, “There is nothing like that. When we think like this, we cannot move forward in life. There is no concept of ‘overshadow’ in relationships like father-son, brother and husband-wife.”

Recalling the day when he stopped for juice at a roadside stall without any digital payment option, Vignesh said he found himself in a difficult situation. However, the shopkeeper recognizes her and warmly calls her Nayanthara, allowing her to leave without paying. “I called Nayan and told him that he saved me that day,” she said smiling.

He further explained how such moments bring him joy rather than discomfort. He said, “When people refer to me as the father of Uir and Ulag, it feels beautiful. It’s the same happiness when I’m recognized by my wife’s name. There’s no jealousy or ego in it. It comes completely from love.”

Vignesh Shivan and Nayanthara started dating after working together Nanum Rowdy Paddy In 2015. The couple got engaged in 2021 and got married in 2022. She later gave birth to twin boys through surrogacy.
