Viduthalai Part 2 starring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead alongside Soori and Manju Warrier has completed two weeks of its release. Vetrimaaran movie is performing average at Tamil box office so far.
Viduthalai 2 continues to perform brilliantly; Crossed the Rs 40 crore mark in Tamil Nadu
Opening with Rs 7.25 crore on the first day, the crime thriller earned a good Rs 22.50 crore at the Tamil box office in its opening weekend.
Furthermore, it witnessed a declining trend and was hit by mixed and average word-of-mouth and rival Hollywood release Mufasa: The Lion King, which is still performing well in India. After registering a good opening weekend, Viduthalai 2 could not stand up to Mufasa: The Lion King. The Hollywood live-action film finally took the lead over Viduthalai 2 with better day-to-day trends.
By the end of its second weekend, the Vetrimaaran directed film managed to cross the Rs 40 crore mark at the Kollywood box office. The film is now in its final stages at the ticket window. It will remain in theaters for a few more weeks as Ajith Kumar’s Vidamuyarchi was postponed from the Pongal release, leaving the festival vacant for others.
On domestic turf, Viduthalai 2 surpasses the lifetime earnings of the first part
Viduthalai 2, the sequel to the highly acclaimed Viduthalai, releasing in 2022, has almost sealed its fate at the ticket window. Although the film had surpassed the total box office collection of its previous part, it is still miles ahead of its successful verdict. A big reason for this is its budget.
The production cost of Viduthalai 2 is approximately 75% higher than that of its predecessor. Moreover, ticket prices have also increased in the last two years.
Furthermore, the sequel could not impress audiences outside its regional borders and recorded an average performance at the box office.
